Cellophane in Flexible Packaging
What is Cellophane?
Cellophane is a thin film made from cellulose. It was one of the first materials used for flexible packaging. Although commonly known as “cellophane bags,” most of these packages are actually made of bi-oriented polypropylene (BOPP).
Cellophane (made from cellulose) has fallen out of use due to its lower resistance, environmental impact, and high cost. In contrast, BOPP is a modern, safe, economical, and highly versatile material, ideal for flexible packaging.
